Expert Witness Services
Nebraska Juvenile Justice and Mental Health Consulting provides expert witness testimony and case specific consulting in two areas currently:
Development and Antisocial Behavior/Transfer of Juveniles to Adult Court: Dr. White is an expert in the role of Development in antisocial behavior and in how adolescents differ from adults in ways that change how youth should be treated in the courtroom relative to adults. Dr. White is available for consultation and testimony with aim to keeping juveniles out of adult court.
The use of functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (fMRI) in the Courtroom: In the past decade there has been an increased use of fMRI data in the courtroom. For a variety of methodological and statistical reasons, this is almost never appropriate. Dr. White can provide compelling testimony, easily digestible by judges, lawyers, and juries as to the reasons why this evidence should typically be discarded or even excluded from the courtroom.
NOTE TO ATTORNEYS: The best counter to fMRI testimony is rarely to spend lots of money on counter fMRI testimony. Dr. White is competent to refute fMRI testimony in many cases by presenting a general rationale for the inappropriateness of this type of data when applied to individuals and can critique the methodologies used by an opposing expert witness.
